Foundation Repair in Jonesborough, TN
Challenge
The Master Services team was summoned to a historic property in Jonesborough, TN to provide foundation repair services. The property was constructed in the 19th century as a church, but fell into disrepair and eventually became a restaurant. It needed some serious foundation work, as many structures eventually do... let alone ones of a certain age!
Soil is compressed or shifts with the passage of time, which can weaken a structure's foundation and cause damage. Leaning chimneys, cracks, uneven floors, and more can result from settlement. In some cases, one section of the home settles more drastically, a condition we refer to as "differential settlement."
Solution
To stabilize this building, Master Services recommended our helical pier system. Piers can permanently fix settlement problems, and are so resilient that they can even replace a conventional foundation. Our helical piers resemble large screws and are used when there's insufficient bedrock available. Instead, helical piers use strong soil to anchor buildings. The weight of the building is transferred to the surrounding ground via "friction lock."
With these piers installed, this historic and beautiful building will be safe from further settlement.
