Quality Assurance: All Part of Our Old Fashioned Service and Trusted Solutions
Meet Cole Hyams, Quality Assurance Inspector.
It’s his passion to make sure each project is done right, meets code and solves the problem to the homeowner’s satisfaction.
Armed with a comprehensive checklist, that deals with every stage from prep to completion, Cole makes at least two job site visits, each day. One will be a completed project; the other, a job in progress.
Cole doesn’t tell the crews in advance. He wants to see how they are doing the work and evaluate if they are meeting the high standards set in place, here at Master Services Companies.
One of the homes he’s chosen to check on is a frame house built in 1940.
The homeowners called us after noticing cracks developing on the basement walls.
They tried to fill the cracks themselves; that didn’t solve anything.
Their basement is an important part of their home.
They use it as a laundry room and storage area. Every time it rains, their basement floods, putting their furnace, appliances, tools and stored possessions, in jeopardy.
Now, fixing the problem is top priority. After seeing a foot of standing water after the last big rainfall, they know they need to make repairs, before the situation gets any worse.
Our inspectors recommended the installation of WaterGuard, IceGuard, a TripleSafe Pump system and CleanSpace, to waterproof the basement.
As Cole arrived, lead installer Scott Surber and his crew were a few hours into their day and well on their way to getting the issues resolved.
The guys had already jackhammered a trench and dug out the concrete to prepare for WaterGuard:
The TripleSafe pump was set in place, the basement perimeter prepped, but there was still work to be done on the walls.
Horace Nunez, one of the most experienced members of our basement waterproofing team, noticed that the concrete block walls were not flush with the floor.
The crew explained to the homeowners that they need to install CleanSpace, a wall covering, to divert water into the WaterGuard.
Horace has assured the homeowners that no water will get on to their floor after the job is done, because the CleanSpace vapor barrier drains any water behind it.
In order to install CleanSpace, Scott will have to remove these shelves.
CleanSpace, our heavy and durable liner is almost impossible to rip, is easy to keep clean and brightens any area with the available lighting.
Cole says consideration, attention to detail and concern are qualities that set the team at Master Service Companies apart: “With us, you are going to get people who care. We have heart. We want the customer’s house dried out, protected for years to come and to know they will have peace of mind, because of our work”.
This CleanSpace vapor barrier guarantees that the walls will stay dry and free from mold. WaterGuard, installed along the basement perimeter, will take away any water that could seep in and divert it to the pump.
Now, the water will drain outside, preventing any chance the basement could flood.
The job is done before the next round of storms.
Cole’s assessment: “The team did what we like to see. They communicated regularly with the homeowners and showed them what we are doing and why. This team is working very well together.”
For Cole, some final notes and then it’s time to pack up and hit the road.
He’s headed across town for the next crew check. It might be another basement job, a crawl space, foundation repair or concrete lifting project.
He’s checking on everything Master Service Companies does.
“I’m focusing on quality and if any of our guys need more training, we make it happen. It’s what we do at Master Service Companies. We’re committed to providing WOW service to every customer, every time.”
