There Are 6 Steps to Service Your Basement Waterproofing System

Annual maintenance of your waterproofing system is essential to keeping your basement or crawlspace safe and dry. Master Services recommends a yearly inspection and tune-up, during which our technicians will:

  1. Test and clean your sump pump system. First, the technician will inspect your sump pump’s float switch and intake for problems. The intake valve and impeller will then be cleaned and checked to ensure functionality. Next, the cleaner will be cleaned and freed of sediment or silt, which means it will be protected from future clogs.
  2. Test and replace batteries. The battery in a WaterWatch® Sump Pump Alarm needs to be changed annually, which should be taken care of during a maintenance visit.
  3. Clean and service your dehumidifier. The pre-filter will be cleaned, but the air filter will be replaced. Other components will be oiled and inspected.
  4. Check the discharge line. The discharge line will be checked to ensure that water is moving freely and unimpeded. Your technician also will check for potential freezing issues.
  5. Check your crawlspace liner. If any liners are installed, your technician will inspect them.
  6. Suggest upgrades. If there are any new problems with your system, your technician will discuss solutions with you and/or implement strategies to address them.

While having a waterproofing system in place is important, the work doesn’t stop there. Your system needs yearly maintenance to keep it in good working order.
