Flower beds and gardens often are neglected over winter. Piles of leaves, dead plants, old mulch, sticks, and other debris accumulate when it’s too chilly to work outside. Rake it into piles and dispose of it, or add the debris to a burn pile.

If you plan to garden, pull up weeds before they wreak havoc on your plants. Lay out fresh mulch, prune bushes, and look into non-toxic, organic plant fertilizer.
