Employees from Master Services volunteered their personal time-including weekends and vacation days-to restore a home in Erwin, TN that was severely damaged by Hurricane Helene.
When Hurricane Helene struck in 2024, it left lasting damage across communities in East Tennessee. One home in Erwin, TN was particularly hard-hit—left structurally unstable and unsafe for the family who lived there. What followed was not just a repair project, but a months-long story of selfless service and teamwork.
In a powerful demonstration of community spirit, a team of employees from Master Services volunteered their time—often giving up weekends, personal days, and even vacation time—to help restore the home from the ground up. Working in partnership with Share the Light Ministries and Evergreen Baptist Church, the Master Services team began the project in late November 2024 and completed it on March 14, 2025.
The scope of the work was no small feat. The team installed a temporary electrical power pole, conducted extensive electrical repairs, stabilized the home’s foundation, and performed a full mold treatment and encapsulation to ensure the family could safely return.
What made this project unique wasn’t just the craftsmanship—it was the heart behind it. Every hour of labor was donated by Master Services employees who chose to give back in a time of great need. For many, this meant sacrificing their days off or even vacation time to be on-site in Erwin, working side by side to bring the home back to life.
“This project wasn’t about a paycheck—it was about people,” said Dustin Coffey, General Manager. “Our team didn’t hesitate when the call came. They stepped up and showed what it really means to serve your community, not just with words, but with action.”
The following employees were involved at different points throughout the project, from the first planning meetings to the final touches:
Dustin Coffey, Curtis Quick, Amanda Thorson, Charles Ivy, Jose Montero, Andrew Goodall, Josh Wise, David Douglas, Kody Lorig, Giovanni Guerra, Travis Smith, Jayson Wakefield, and David Reece.
Master Services is proud to recognize these individuals not only for their professional expertise, but for their commitment to compassion, service, and community.
