Lifting a Sinking Patio to Eliminate Safety Risks
Challenge
A homeowner contacted us after growing concerns about their back patio, which had begun to show signs of serious settlement. Large cracks had formed across the surface, and sections of the slab had sunk noticeably—creating trip hazards and making the space unsafe for family and guests. Beyond the safety risks, the uneven concrete had also become an eyesore that disrupted the overall appeal of the backyard.
After a full inspection, we determined that the underlying soil had settled and compacted unevenly over time, leading to the visible sinking and structural instability. Rather than demolishing and repouring the entire patio, we recommended a more efficient and cost-effective solution: a high-density polyurethane foam injection.
Solution
Our crew carefully injected the foam beneath the slab in key areas to lift and re-level the surface. The foam expanded quickly, filling voids and providing solid support beneath the patio without disturbing the surrounding landscape.
The results were immediate—trip hazards were eliminated, the cracks significantly reduced, and the surface was level once again. The homeowner was thrilled to have a safer, better-looking outdoor space in just a matter of hours, without the disruption of a full replacement.
