SmartJacks Installed in Shady Valley, TN Crawl Space
Challenge
Homeowners in Shady Valley, TN were experiencing extreme water damage in their home's crawl space. The water was causing damage to the floor joists - causing the floors to sag. Fortunately, the humidity had not yet led to mold growth. The home's floors were being held up with stacked concrete blocks and black plastic was very poorly covering the dirt floor of the crawl space. Realizing the makeshift jack and water barrier were not working, they called the professionals at Master Services.
Solution
The project began with the original black plastic being removed and replacing the concrete blocks with a SmartJack system. Supplemental Beams were also installed to replace the ones that were now rotting. With this added support, the SmartJacks were able to raise the sagging floors back up to their original positions. A CleanSpace Encapsulation system was then installed, beginning with the EZ Flow Drainage matting. This matting directs water in the crawl space to a TripleSafe sump pump that pumps it out and away from the home. CleanSpace Liner was then installed, along with Wrap Piers, to ensure a waterproof barrier. CleanSpace Vent Covers and an EverLast Door were also installed to prevent water from seeking other entrances into the crawl space. A LawnScape outlet was then installed to prevent rainwater was being drained directly outside the crawl space.
