Repairing Settlement Issues in Johnson City, TN
Challenge
This home was quite old, having been constructed in 1956. The newest owner had only been living in it just a few months, but already she was noticing issues with walls inside the home. There were obvious cracks and other irregularities. She wanted to stop the damage before it progressed, so she called out Master Services to perform an inspection and make a recommendation.
Solution
Our inspector performed a meticulous inspection and determined that the home needed intervention. He could detect some buckling, which is a clear sign of settlement and shifting. Settlement often occurs due to the shifting, or compression, of soil beneath the home. We recommended our Wall Plate Anchor system, which uses soils outside of the home to stabilize the walls. In this process, holes are made a safe distance from the home's foundation. Next, steel rods are driven through the wall and attached to earth plates.
The final step involves securing wall plates to the opposite end of the rods, inside the home.
