Though it had never been encapsulated before, early signs of moisture and the musty odor made it clear that action was needed. Without delay, before encapsulating the crawlspace, our crew sealed off the vents to isolate the environment from outside air then our team installed a CleanSpace Vapor Barrier across the floors and walls. Our inspector identified the specific point requiring immediate support underneath the first step leading to the front porch. Our crew worked within the tight area, exposing the cement footer under the stairs. We then installed one Push pier, securing it to the concrete footing with a steel bracket. This solution anchors the soil, preventing further settling and often restoring the site to its original height. After filling the hole, stability was restored with minimal disruption. With this system in place, Jennifer can be confident that her home is protected from further settling.
The support beams in this Cleveland, TN crawlspace were busted and rotten due to water damage. If the structure above a crawlspace lacks support, it can lead to joist sagging and other issues. First, Horace and his team mapped out the perfect location to install support jacks in the crawlspace. These areas are chosen to provide the best level of protection for the home. Next, the team prepared holes at each location to fill with tightly compacted crushed stone. A pre-cast concrete footing was then placed on the area.
The footing provides stability for the jack post, and it keeps it vertical while distributing the weight across a large area of soil. Next, measurements were taken for the crawl space jack posts and the posts were cut and installed. The jack was mounted against the girder, then plumbed.
The jack was tightened to lift the floor back to its original position. Now the floor above the crawlspace is stable and supported.
