Our team went to a house in Knoxville, Tennessee to check out some sagging beams in the crawlspace. Over time and with neglect, beams can become rotten, move, and settle, especially when they are not the right size for the load they are carrying. To fix the issue, we put in our SmartJacks system, which is a high-capacity adjustable steel pier that stops settling and can even raise the floor of the house back to its original position. This solution provided a quick and long-term solution to a problem that would have gotten worse over time.
In Knoxville, TN, the Knoxville Center for the Deaf reached out to Master Services concerning noticeable sinking in their foundation wall, which was so severe that it was affecting the interior floors. After conducting a thorough assessment of the foundation, our team identified soil erosion as the root cause of this issue, which was notably evidenced by the cracking around the window frames.
To prevent further deterioration and structural damage, we recommended the installation of helical piers. These piers are specially designed to provide substantial reinforcement to foundations, especially in the local clay terrain. By implementing these helical piers, Master Services ensured long-term stability and protected the building against further sinking and damage.
Upon completion of our work, we left the site after filling and cleaning the excavation area. Throughout the operation, the structure was able to continue serving the community effectively.
Plate anchor wall systems provide an alternative method to the expensive and disruptive task of rebuilding or replacing damaged foundation walls. Our wall anchor system reaches well away from the foundation to use the stability of the soil as an anchor preventing further bowing of the inside wall. Through the use of affordable helical piers, the foundation repair specialists at Master Services were able to alleviate uneven foundation setting problems as seen in the pictures here. The pictures show how the exterior brick is pulling apart due to the settlement of one side of the home. The helical piers were installed at set intervals along the side of the foundation that was settling. The piers were attached to the base of the foundation wall, and driven into the ground beneath the foundation, until they contacted strong supporting soils. Once in contact with this stabilizing support, the piers bear the load of the settling wall or foundation, preventing further settlement or sinking. The cracks are sometimes closed; but also sometimes simply prevented from further opening or widening.
